05 / 01 / 02 Toyota have taken a significant step on it's path into Formula 1 with the unveiling in Cologne of it's definitive 2002 challenger, the TF102. Official drivers, Mika Salo and Allan McNish, will give the car it's race debut at the Australian GP at Melbourne on March 3rd 2002.
Panasonic Toyota Racing's F1 car, the TF102, is a successor to the teams 2001 test car, the TF101 and comes with a brand new livery. The car retains Toyota's corporate colours of red and white, whilst additionally carrying the logos of the teams newly acquired partners, AOL Time Warner and Wella.
Minichamps have announced straight after the official launch by the team that they will be producing the 2002 Panasonic Toyota F1 launch cars. 11 / 07 / 01 First of all, bad news. Minichamps have cancelled their "Hakkinen Taxi" models in both scales. It appears that McLaren would not give the OK to produce these. This was confirmed today by the UK Importers.
This car would have had Hakkinen riding on Coulthard's McLaren. Sorry, it is not going to happen.

However, good news in that Minichamps have announced another new model (due for release towards the end of 2001.) This is the car that Williams used to test Michelin tyres, leading up to their come back into F1. The model will be driverless.

The Jordan models represent a new development from Minichamps entitled the Jordan History Collection. Five different sets will be produced, each with two models, without driver figures. Cars included in these sets will be different to the cars that have been supplied by Minichamps in the past. Set number 5, contains a brand new models of the 1999 and 2000 Jordan cars, which have never been available from Minichamps before. All these models are supplied in a special clear cover box, like the World Champion Sets previously supplied and will have a special Jordan sleeve around them. These sets will be especially collectable, as they will not only be a limited edition, but also individually numbered.

The Honda F1 RA099 prototype of Jos Verstappen from 1999 is a very special exclusive model in special gift box that is single numbered from 1 – 11,111 pieces. A complete new mould has been built for this Honda Test Car. After Honda built this car for the 2000 season they then decided that they would not start in Formula 1 with their own car chassis and instead opted to supply Formula 1 engines to Jordan and BAR, so it is sure to be a real collectors item.

Minichamps have also announced that they are going to produce Mika Salo BAR cars.

During the 1999 season Mika Salo deputised for Zonta for 3 races. They will produce cars in both 1/43rd and 1/18th scale, these should be available late September, using these codes:

1/43rd P990223 BAR 01 Supertec 1999 Zipper Race version.
1/18th PG990223 BAR 01 Supertec 1999 Zipper Race version.

They have not yet stated, whether or not they will of a limited number. We suspect that they will be. If you are interested, please get your name down early to avoid disappointment.

Rumour has it that Mattel are producing a 1:43-only 1999 F1 Winners Series!

26 / 06 / 00 After months of waiting, the 1/43 scale BAR 01 of Jacques Villeneuve has finally been released. The car is the race version with zipper design, click HERE for photograph. This model is very collectible and having been banned in the USA and Canada due to licence problems, this is going to be a very sought after model. If you have not ordered yours yet and want one, don't delay. 

16 / 05 / 00 A letter received from my supplier today :
     We are very pleased to confirm that the 1999 BAR cars will finally be released in June. We have frequently been asked for more information concerning these highly collectible models in 1/18 and 1/43 scale. They are probably the most attractive models that Pauls Model Art have ever produced.
     There have been a lot of enquiries for the 1999 BAR presentation car because of its attractive design and colours. Minichamps have announced that they will no longer be making the BAR 1999 test car and presentation versions (see news - 06 / 05 / 00). Instead, one model only will be produced in a very limited production format. This will be the BAR 1999 launch version in blue without driver figure. A photograph is HERE and is also in the Minichamps 2000 Edition 1 catalogue listed under the code 180 990123 - Ricardo Zonta.

06 / 05 / 00 It has been reported that the 1999 BAR test cars are NOT being released as planned. This is a hugely disappointing decision from Minichamps. However, the race versions are still expected sometime later this month.

My personal top of the Bridgestone range is the red podium cap that the 3 drivers wear on the podium while collecting their trophies. This is priced at £15. Bridgestone also have a Damon Hill Bridgestone test car that is packaged without the Onyx badges. In place of the Onyx logos are the Bridgestone logo and is a welcome addition to any Damon Hill model collection. The price of this model is £19.99.

26 / 03 / 00 The first of the Damon Hill 4 car limited edition set has been released. The model is the 1998 Jordan Mugen Honda from the German GP where Damon finished 4th. This is a limited edition of 4,999 pcs.

25 / 02 / 00 While Damon Hill was driving for Williams, he was presented with a model of his car set in a glass bottle diorama (you've seen the ship in a bottle), click here for the photograph of Damon Hill with his presentation. MotorSportModels has been in contact with the people who made this diorama for Damon and we have commissioned them to produce a Limited Edition Damon Hill Jordan Mugen Honda 199 complete with full Benson & Hedges tobacco advertising decals in the glass bottle. Alternatively, the diorama may also be obtained in a glass case. The models are expected to be a worldwide limited edition of just 50 pieces and are expected to sell out extremely quickly.
If you are interested in this model, please reserve early, as they will be strictly offered on a first come first served basis.

24 / 02 / 00 The Ferrari merchandise catalogue has been updated with the 2000 range. Many items are the same as 1999 but there are quite a few new items including 2 new flags, new T-shirts and a whole section dedicated to the lady Ferrari enthusiast. The Williams BMW, Jaguar and Jordan range are due to be released soon. I shall update the website as items are made available.

I have the chance of purchasing some Mercedes Dealer Edition McLaren MP4/13's Both Hakkinen and Coulthard's cars are available in both 1/18 and 1/43 scale. I don't have a price yet but they are expected to be around £80 for the 1/18 and £40 for the 1/43 scale. If you are interested, please let me know. Stocks are likely to be limited so when I receive them, they will be offered on a first come, first served basis.

All are 1:43 scale Damon Hill models and all are expected to sell out very, very quickly. It has now come to my attention that all 4 models to be released are limited to 5,000 pieces. Details below:

I have obtained more Michael Schumacher Ferrari F310/B set in extremely limited edition diorams. Worldwide limited editions of just 50 pieces and each is individually numbered. I have 3 x Canadian GP, 1 x Monaco GP (these models features the full Marlboro logos) and 2 x French GP (no tobacco advertising in France) The model cars are 1:43 scale but the diorama measures 340 mm (length) x 190 mm (width) x 135 mm (height) The French GP dioramas are priced at £150 each and the Canada and Monaco GP diorams are priced at £175 each

We have received notification of Michael Schumacher's 2000 cap. Click here for the picture. The cap is expected to be available from the end of February. Order early to avoid disappointment. Don't forget the British GP is in April this year and not the usual July.

It has been brought to my attention that there are 2 variations of Minichamps McLaren MP4/14. One version has 'McLaren.net' on the small winglets in front of the rear wheels and 'Warsteiner' on the rear wing endplates. The other version has neither. I am currently sold out of the variation with 'McLaren.net' on the side. I am trying to obtain more.
